I love black and white photos that other people take but find it… well, abhorrent to take the color out of my photos. This photo of the opening of a spiral train tunnel at Kicking Horse Pass and the Continental Divide in the Canadian Rockies told me to go black and white. And a red, high contrast filter made it perfect.
There is more story to this tunnel so stay tuned.
Great photo, I think it’s a good idea to be creative and try new things, in this case – black and white photos, because after all photography is an art

I agree, and I am more interested in the art of photography than the science.

Yes, that’s actually a very good way to describe most of the photos these days – photography science – as it gets harder and harder to separate what is real and what’s not

Do you still love it? Did you do the graphics for your avatar and header? They were what attracted me to your blog – then I liked the content.

When I find the right subject…I love to use B&W…the graphic for the avatar and header was done by a fellow student at university for my book of poetry…same name as my blog…I have used it my entire professional career.

I love the drama of b&w photos. Great shot!

Thanks, Julie. I was thinking that B&W need the right subject. I just refuse to take the color out of flowers and most landscapes! And that’s the truth. (Does that sound familiar?)
