The buildings in this fishing village on the southern shore of Nova Scotia indicate that the storms can be brutal coming off the water.

Beautiful photograph. Although I’ve sailed nearly halfway around the world from there now, the screen saver on my laptop is still of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, the first place I ever sailed offshore. Your image is calling me back to Nova Scotia.

Lunenburg is a beautiful place to be called back to. We had a wonderful two weeks in Nova Scotia.

Back in 50s BC most of the waterfront housing belonged to the people who worked as fishermen. A friend told me it was the same on the Atlantic coast, and all the houses in the Maritimes faced away from the water to avoid the storms.
