Just two words and a photograph; and yet, placed together, they say so much, not only about the tragedy of life, but also about the quietly remarkable woman who wrote this thought-provoking, restrained post. Bravo, Pat…
This hit me between the eyes; just another name recorded for posterity, just another man lost to humanity’s inability to live in peace, just another family ripped to shreds, sandwiched between all of the names above, below, to the left and the right. So many names that it’s impossible to take in the extent of the tragedy.
I didn’t need to say any of that. You said it beautifully in two words.
I agree with the comments above. I just watched the movie Hacksaw Ridge last night, ended up sobbing. All the wasted lives in war.

It really bothers me that even those who survive can continue to suffer from the carnage they witness – life’s potential wasted.

Powerful image, Pat. “Another name” says it all, but combined with the photo, it says everything. ❤

A random thought haiku:
who’ll carve the last name
what will their thoughts be that day
of heaven’s glory

But I am so glad you said it, Jane. You have a gift for putting words in an order that hits us between the eyes.

I learnt to curb my violent streak back when I was in my teens, but it still comes out in this subversive form 🙂
