The word challenge this week from Cee is fire or summer. How convenient that Julie and I got out at 6:00 a.m. last Friday to watch the launch of the hot air balloons. And the air in those hot air balloons gets hot because of fire.
What fun we had. The morning was cool and clear, with just a hint of a breeze. There weren’t many people so we could parked in the same lot as the vans and balloon trailers were parked. Someone sent up a couple of helium balloons to check the direction of the wind and then the pilots got in a huddle – in the middle of the parking lot.
They were checking their maps, smart phones, and tablets; wondering if they should move the launch site to a different part of the park. Finally the decision was made to launch. Enjoy.

Until I’m ready to plunk down the money, I doubt it will happen. 😉 It is no longer high on my priority list. Thanks for stopping by.

I wonder how my list will change as time goes on. I have so much that I want to do & know that I won’t. So- I will have to prioritize accordingly to time & budget.

Good point, RoSy. I have found that there were some things that I wasn’t able to do because of time, money, other commitments. Sometimes I was able to them at a later time, sometimes I no longer wanted to do them when I could, and most of the time there were new, more interesting things to do. In talking to all kinds of people, I have found that no one has been able to have it all, all the time.

Oh how I would love to ride in one of those. Perhaps one of these days!

No, there are sponsors who give them big money to help them attend these launches and they are the ones who get to go up. There are several balloon owners around who have passed requirements to be able to take people up, but I haven’t. It is somewhat expensive and the last you checked you have to schedule the ride, pay, and then may not be able to go up because of weather. No refunds – that was the killer.

Wow what a bummer! In my area it’s also quite expensive but I still hope that I get to go someday 🙂

A perfect set of pictures for the challenge word…we see quite a few balloons from my home since the wineries are not far away.

How fun. We haven’t seen any in the past few years, except the year a couple landed in our suburban, narrow, hilly streets with power wires all around. Pretty exciting to see them land in such narrow spaces. I wouldn’t think they would have that much control.

Yes, it is summer and can get hot. Today is suppose to be close to 90 degrees (I don’t have the conversion for Celsius. Then it will cool down to the high 70’s. Thanks for visiting my dot on the map. 🙂
