Seeing a bald eagle isn’t an every-day experience for me so I was pretty impressed when I would see one on our cruise of the inside passage of Alaska. Then we passed this rock outcrop and behold there were 6 bald eagles and 4 other birds of prey that I don’t recognize.
Here is a blow-up of the other birds. I am wondering if they are golden eagles. If you know what they are, please comment below.
Wow! That’s fantastic 🙂

I’m no expert but my guess would be they are “teenage” eagles…but wow, you really hit the jackpot here, Pat!! What an amazing sight and capture!

Can I just say WOW. WOW! WOW! WOW! I have yet to get a good view of one. My daughter sees them all the time. Now about the brown ones, bald eagles tend to stick to them selves so I would say they are their young, teenagers if you will. Bald eagles are all brown when they are young but I don’t know at what age it turns white. So that’s just my 2 cents for what its worth LOL

I didn’t think bald eagles were really social so it seemed strange that another predatory type bird would be with them – so I think they are teenagers. And if we say that is what they are, Ana, it must be right. 🙂

Could it not be fish-eagles?

I will look them up. Thanks. Charles Martin suggested that they are juvenile bald eagles.

Thanks, I was on a moving ship so they aren’t really sharp but wonderful to bring home with me.

I suspect they other four are newly fledged juvenile (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bald_eagle).

Those four look like golden eagles, but I am no expert.
