I love barns, especially how different parts of the country have different style barns. It is also interesting to see barns in different colors. In my younger years I just assumed that the “correct” color for barns was red, but there seems to be a wide variety. I also love the old style silos, especially the glazed block silos. White barns have been catching my eye lately so when I saw this weathered white barn with the red glazed silo, I knew we had to stop. The sheep and cows in the side pasture were like icing on the cake.
The sheep could care less about our presence but these little beauties wasted no time in greeting us. Isn’t that an adorable face?
I also find barns very interesting. How they look different from region to region and from country to country. Love the calfs. š

That block looks like ACO (Adolph Casimir Ochs) from Springfield, Minnesota. Not sure where you are located, but these type of silos [and barn!] are quite prevalent in Minnesota.

Thanks for the info, Dan. This barn and silo are in southern Michigan.

Probably not from Springfield then, but maybe. I am sure this type of block was manufactured in many places. It has such a wonderful color.

I’ve never seen a glazed silo – gorgeous. We have a big brown barn built in 1840 that housed horses. We can see where it was an apple green under the brown. Whatever the color, barns are historical sites that should be appreciated for their contribution. Love your photos. š

Thanks. I don’t think I’ve seen an apple green barn – have you ever been tempted to paint it that color again?

We have talked about it, but I cannot for the life of me imagine what it would look like. š

And painting a barn is pretty expensive. Green is a hard color to get right – we had to do our livingroom three times and it is almost right. Not with a barn. š

Interesting barn, Pat, the glazed block silo really shines out. And I love the curly haired cow, she’s almost smiling! š

Thanks. The white cow has curly hair that makes me want to run my fingers through it. I wonder if they can do a hair transplant from cow to me? After a question like that I think it must be time for me to go to bed! š

I have seen several in my location but none were framed in such a nice way. I have at least one more photo but it didn’t seem interesting enough to post.

Well, this one was framed beautifully and I’m sure your others are just as nice. š
