The path through the woods was lit by the morning sun and I had to watch for uneven places where roots were growing on the surface. The sun danced on the mossy floor that started at path’s edge and went forever. Stepping from the path onto the moss brought a moment of surprise as my feet sank into the softness. There was the light sound of water running over stones in a nearby brook that contrasted with the distant roar of the ocean surf, a promise waiting at the end of the path.
Interrupting the greenness of the forest were the pops of yellow and gold dotting the mossy floor. I have never seen so many different kinds of fungi growing in one place.
I wonder who lives under these.

Hi Pat –
I took a pic of the top of a mushroom that was in my yard recently. It looks different than any of the ones that you have posted. I think I will post it tonight if I remember & get a chance. I will link to this post too – if you don’t mind.
