My favorite time of day is very early morning, here in Michigan at 6:30 or so, when the sun is just beginning to peek through the trees and casting glowing spotlights on the new blooms in my garden. We are having a few clear days with low humidity and cool nights – this makes for a very golden morning garden.
Now image the fresh smell of morning, clear blue skies, the cool air against bare arms and legs, and the sound of birds calling their good mornings. I’ll provide the cup of coffee or tea. Shall I put something in the oven?
WordPress is challenging us to see what that golden hour at sunrise and sunset can do to turn our good photos into great ones. To see more interpretations, or to share your favorite photos taken during the golden hours, visit: Β http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/07/12/the-golden-hour/
Pat – Thanks for sharing your sunset bouquet. π

I’m an incorrigible night owl, so I almost always miss the golden hour in the morning, but in the evenings it is unbeatable. Lovely flowers, as always.

Thank you so much, Sue. I love early morning and luckily all of my children were morning kids – maybe because I put them in bed really early. Baby Mike woke up every day at 6:30 except on week-ends when he woke at 5:30. π

I have gotten pretty good at hitting the delete button with flowers. I have lifted the bar for myself because I know there will me more to practice on – and then another year. But this is such a great year for the flowers that I have a problem with not taking my camera into the garden. And the butterflies are starting to come. Aren’t we glad that there is never a shortage of things to photograph. π

Thanks, Madhu. I know that our images should be able to tell the story – but there is more I want to say. I also enjoy it when others tell a story to go with their photos. That is why I enjoy your blog so much. π

Thanks, Isadora. I get a lot of joy from being in my garden in the early morning – especially if I have a camera in my hand instead of a weed digger. π
